Ebola Outbreak

In class, we had a task to find the exact same new on three different English new websites.

Here is what I found.

What is Ebola?

  • Disease, virus
  • Fast to catch
  • Dangerous

Symptoms for Ebola: fever, headaches, joint, muscle

NBCNews:

Two American Ebola patients,Nancy Writebol and Dr. Kent Brantly.
Walk out of Emory University Hospital in Atlanta infection-free.
They were the first human beings to receive an experimental drug called ZMapp. But they are not the first people to have recovered from Ebola. 1976 Ebola came to east Africa. But with good hospital care is likely more responsible for their recovery
Ebola has infected 2,500 people in West Africa and killed 1,350 of them in

BBC:  More than 2,630 people have died of the virus in 601 Guinea, 1,459 Liberia, 562 Sierra Leone and 8 Nigeria this year. The disease infects humans through close contact with infected animals, including chimpanzees, fruit bats and forest antelope.

CNN: More than 2,600 people have died from the virus since March and the numbers continue to grow.

This is what I found from all three news websites. Every one of them had almost the same thing to say, but the numbers of people was the only different.

Media in Motion

Task 2

Introduction: Media in Motion
We listened to a text in our English book Access p.40-43

The text was all about the international English and the “media”.  The most important media development of the decades has been the rise of the Internet.

In 1989, the Internet became an open system to anyone with a computer. By 1995 there were about 15 million person online and after that, the Internet has been very popular.

We also heard that the number of Internet users who speak English is roughly the same as the number who speak Chinese.

In the future the English language will be used to communicate with one another, because people are learning English every day and English is mostly used on media.

Be Careful Of What You Post On Social media

Access Page.47 Task 2b

We listened to some people talking about social media.

The person I think had the best point was Clarence. Clarence talk about how the social media could mess up your future so easily. And truly, I really agree with him. Because is true that the things you post out on social media will never be gone although how many times you try deleting them.

So be careful of what you post on social media, it could easily spoil you and your future.

How people use the social media

On Friday my English class had a task about the social media, the tasks  were all about asking different people in the street how they use social media. We interviewed both old and young people.

Here are the questions we asked:

·         How often do you use Facebook?

·         Do you have Snapchat or Instagram?

·         Do you think teenagers use the Internet too much?

·         Do you know what an app is?

·         What kind of apps do you know?

·         How do you think the social media will be in 10 years?

·         How much time do you use on the Internet?

·         Do you have your phone with you all the time?

After interviewing about 5-6 people, the conclusion became: the older people get the less time they use on the Internet and social media.  And for the younger ones, the majority use the social media through their daily life.

TIMELINE:  What Suprised Me About  «Internet Evolution»

  •   I’m surprised that Google was founded in 1998, because that’s not long time ago.
And know it seems like Google has almost all the answer to things.

    .

  •   Facebook was founded in 2004 and now over 75-100 billion people know and uses the social network. That’s a «Wow effect» for me.
